1. About these terms

These terms are the agreement between you and KiwiSub, an independent app made and run in New Zealand. By creating an account or using KiwiSub, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your information.

2. Who can use KiwiSub

You need to be 16 or over to have an account. You can only have one account, and the details you give us need to be accurate.

3. Your account

Keep your password and authenticator app safe, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account. You’re responsible for what happens in your account.

4. What KiwiSub does and doesn’t do

KiwiSub helps you keep track of subscriptions and bills and reminds you before payments. It’s an information tool, not financial advice, and not a budgeting app: it doesn’t look for rent, loans or credit card repayments, though you can add them yourself.

Reminders depend on your phone’s notifications and the dates you enter or your bank shares, so we can’t promise every reminder will arrive or be right. Always check the provider before you rely on a date or price.

KiwiSub never pays, cancels or changes anything for you. You cancel with each provider yourself, and the cancel guides are a starting point that can go out of date.

5. Bank connections

Bank connections are optional and made through Akahu, a New Zealand open banking provider. Akahu’s own terms apply to that connection. Access is read-only, and you can disconnect at any time in KiwiSub or at my.akahu.nz.

6. Fair use

Don’t misuse KiwiSub. That includes trying to get into other people’s accounts or data, interfering with or overloading the service, reverse engineering it, or using it for anything unlawful. If you find a security problem, please email us (details below) rather than exploiting it.

7. Your information

What you add to KiwiSub stays yours. You let us store and process it only to run KiwiSub for you, as described in the privacy policy. You can export or delete it at any time.

8. Paid features

KiwiSub is free today. If we add paid features, such as KiwiSub Plus, we’ll show the price and terms before you buy. Purchases through the App Store or Google Play follow their billing and refund rules.

9. Changes and availability

We’re always improving KiwiSub, so features may change, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. If we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app before the change takes effect.

10. Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time in Settings → Delete account. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or puts other people or the service at risk, and we’ll tell you why where we can.

11. Our responsibility

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 or the Fair Trading Act 1986. As far as the law allows, KiwiSub is provided as is, and we aren’t liable for indirect losses, or for charges, fees or missed cancellations that come from relying on KiwiSub.

12. The law that applies

These terms are governed by New Zealand law.
